6. Will you honor ICE detainer requests? Will your department ask about immigration status during interviews?

My responsibility as Sheriff is to protect the citizens of Cecil County and enforce the law.

My administration will work with federal law enforcement agencies, including U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, while ensuring that all actions comply with Maryland law and constitutional protections.

At the same time, my administration will make it clear that ALL law enforcement actions and criminal investigations conducted by the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office will never be conducted based on race, color, sexual orientation, creed, religious beliefs, or any other form of bias.

The role of the Sheriff’s Office is to enforce the law fairly and equally while protecting the constitutional rights of every citizen.

Our deputies will focus on criminal behavior — not personal characteristics — and will carry out their duties with professionalism, fairness, and respect for the rights of the community we serve.
